Parallel Tukey boxplots of serum amyloid A blood concentration in pigs. The serum amyloid concentrations were measured after inoculation (Day 0) with Actinobacillus pleuropneumonia serotype 2. Benzylpenicillin treatment was initiated at the onset of clinical signs which occurred within 24 h after inoculation. The treatment group nomenclature is: the medicinal product, either procaine benzylpenicillin in a water suspension (ETH) or procaine benzylpenicillin in an oil suspension (UPA); dose in mg/kg; dose frequency (once or twice daily) and treatment duration in days. For example, ETH20-2 × 3 should read as: procaine benzylpenicillin in a water suspension 20 mg/kg bodyweight twice daily for three days
